Padel - All you need to know
If you haven’t heard of Padel, don’t worry - you’re not alone. But that’s changing fast! This sport is exploding in popularity worldwide, and once you play, it’s easy to see why.
Think of padel as a mix between tennis and squash. It’s fast, social, easy to learn, and ridiculously fun. You don’t need to be a pro athlete to enjoy it, and that’s why it’s attracting everyone - from weekend warriors to former tennis stars looking for a new challenge.
There are some new courts that have opened by the sea in my hometown and I legit can’t tear myself away, it is soooo much fun!
How Do You Play?
Padel is played in doubles (or singles) on a small, enclosed court about one-third the size of a tennis court. The walls are in play (like in squash), which makes rallies last longer and the game even more exciting.
The basics: You serve underarm (no power serves here). Once the ball is in play, you volley, smash, lob, and use the walls to your advantage.
The equipment: You use a short-handled, stringless racket and a slightly depressurized tennis ball.
The goal: Just like tennis, the aim is to win points by making your opponents miss, but the walls mean you always have a chance to keep the rally alive!
Why Is Padel So Much Fun?
Easy to learn, hard to master – You don’t need years of training to enjoy padel. Beginners can pick it up quickly, but there’s plenty of depth for those who want to improve.
Super social – It’s always doubles, so you’re constantly interacting with teammates and opponents. That makes it a perfect sport for meeting people.
More rallies, more action – Thanks to the walls, the ball stays in play longer, which means longer rallies and more fun.
Less running, more strategy – Because the court is smaller than a tennis court, you don’t have to sprint everywhere. Instead, the game is about positioning, touch, and tactics.
Benefits of Playing Padel
Great workout without the strain – You’ll get a solid cardio session without putting too much stress on your body.
Improves reflexes and coordination – Quick reactions and smart shot placement matter more than raw power.
Mental boost – Whether it’s a casual game or a heated battle, the excitement keeps you engaged and stress-free.
Anyone can play – Whether you’re young, old, a seasoned athlete, or a complete beginner, padel is for you.
If you’re looking for a fun, social, and addictive sport that you can play at any age or skill level, padel is it. Give it a go - you’ll be hooked after just one game!
